Offshore data acquisition, analysis and reporting specialist Geoquip Marine was contracted to conduct an offshore geotechnical site investigation off the coast of Virginia Beach in Virginia, USA. This operation was conducted to support an offshore windfarm development in the region.
For this project, Geoquip Marine mobilised three integrated geotechnical survey vessels comprising Geoquip Speer, Geoquip Saentis and Dina Polaris. The company completed 150 boreholes to depths up to 120m below mudline and performed over 200 seabed CPT locations with a 200kN unit at the OWF site. Additional shallow sampling and in situ testing locations were performing along the export cable route. The high-quality samples recovered and in situ data recorded ensured Geoquip Marine could safely deliver reliable data to its OWF client.
